What can I say about teachers? They have a heck of a job to do in this day and age. They help to educate the younger generation. Many school systems in the country don’t compensate their teachers enough. A lot of them are still struggling with debt. In today’s post, I want to go over some side hustles that teachers can do. Hopefully, this will help you earn a little more money.
The first side hustle for teachers is to start a tutoring service. Let’s face it; some kids don’t grasp certain subjects as fast as the others do. They may learn better with one on one teaching. As a tutor, a teacher will be able to give a struggling student that extra help that he or she needs. Weeknights would probably not be an ideal time to tutor the students. Most teachers will be preparing their lesson for the next day of class. Weekends would be better. Teachers could tutor students a couple of times a month if they wanted to.
The next side hustle idea is to work summer school. In most school districts, it’s not mandatory for teachers to work during the summer. If you don’t mind giving up most of your summer break, this may be an option for you. The hours will be shorter. The class sizes shouldn’t be as large either.
Create an Online Study Guide to Sell
The third side hustle that teachers can do is to create an online study guide. The opportunities for a study guide are endless. The subject that you teach can help give you ideas. One example that you can do is to make a SAT study guide. To get into college students must take the SAT or the ACT. The majority of the students take the SAT. It goes over writing, mathematics and critical reading skills. As online study guide can help students get better prepared for it. Obviously, you can’t promote the study guide to kids in your class, but you can sell it online. Students all over the country can benefit from it.
Work After School
Another side hustle is to work at an after school program. Many elementary schools offer after school programs. The kids can stay at school until their parents get off work. The kids can do their homework, get a snack and even play outside during this time. After school programs usually shut down around 6 pm.
Start a Website
The final side hustle idea is to start a website. If you know your subject very well, you could create a successful blog where you educate people. You can get more in depth about certain topics than you can in the classroom. You will also be able to reach more individuals with a website than you can in the classroom. If your site generates a lot of traffic, you can start putting ads on it as well as creating online courses or study guides to sell.
If you are a teacher, I know that you are probably not getting your worth. Until teachers get paid what they truly deserve, there are some side hustles out there for you. Tutoring students, working summer school, creating a study guide to sell, working an after-school program and starting a website are just a few ideas to get you started.
