Hello, everyone. Many of you may be parents. A lot of you might have kids. In that situation, one parent may work, while the other parent stays at home to watch the kids. If you’re the parent that stays at home, you may be looking for a couple of ways to make money during your down time. If so, then today’s article is perfect for you. I will be going over five side hustles for stay at home parents.
Sell on Amazon
The first thing on the list is to sell on Amazon. Amazon is one of the biggest online marketplaces in the world. If you’re a stay at home parent, you may have time to look for items to sell. People see a variety of things on Amazon. The items range from toys to kitchen supplies to electronics. If you don’t have any inventory laying around the house, there are a couple of ways where you can get inventory.
The first place where you can check for inventory to sell is at discount retail stores. Stores like Walmart, K-Mart, and Sears typically have great prices and a lot of sales. You should be able to find some things that you can purchase and resale. The second place that you can find items at is the thrift store. Those places can be gold mines depending on the type of items that you are looking for.
The second side hustle for stay at home parents is to complete online surveys. There are probably hundreds of online survey sites out there to choose from. Not all of them are legitimate. I’d start with Swagbucks and Amazon Mechanical Turk. I can vouch for them because I’ve used them in the past and have received payments from them. I want to stress to you that you will not get rich from completing surveys. It’s something that will allow you to make a couple of hundred extra bucks each month. A lot of the surveys take time. Also, many of them pay under $3. You have to persistent if you want to make money with surveys.

Mystery shopping is pretty easy. It’s a side hustle where a company or business will pay you to act like a customer. You will probably have to purchase something, or they will want you to ask a cashier or server a particular question. You will then have to provide feedback to the company on things like how the customer service was or if they recommended you another item. You get paid for completing a successful shop and most of the time you get reimbursed if you had to make a purchase.
Sell Items on Craigslist
Side hustle number four is to sell large items on Craigslist. If you want to sell unwanted furniture, Craigslist is always the place to go. You don’t have to worry about any outrageous shipping charges. If you decide to do this, make sure you practice common sense. If the item is too heavy have someone help you with it. Also, if a seller wants to pick something up from you, make sure that you have another adult at home with you.
The final side hustle on the list is to become a virtual assistant. VA’s help businesses or people with different tasks such as answering emails, booking travel and editing documents. The amount of money that you can make as a VA varies. It depends on the amount of work that they will have you doing as well as the number of hours that you work. Two places to look for VA jobs are Upwork.com and Freelancer.com.
If you are a stay at home parent, there are ways for you to make some extra money. The five things side hustles that I discussed above are just the beginning. Decide what you want to do and make that money today!
