As a millennial myself, I can understand the need for extra money. A lot of jobs are not paying people what they are worth. With rising living costs and massive student loan debt, many millennials need a side hustle just to survive. Today, I would like to go over a few side hustles that should help millennials make more money.
Drive for Lyft or Uber
If you have a car and don’t mind driving people around, you can make extra money driving for Lyft or Uber. With those companies, you get to set your own schedule. You drive when you want to drive.
There are certain days and times that you will make more money than other days. Most holidays are usually good to make cash with Uber or Lyft. Weekends are good days as well. Most people go out on Friday and Saturday nights to the bars. Instead of drinking and driving, a lot of people choose to use Uber or Lyft. I use it a lot, and I will say that about half of my drivers have been millennials.
Sell on Etsy
The next side hustle for millennials is to sell something on Etsy. Etsy is a website where people can sell their own items. For example, if you make your own jewelry, you can sell it on Etsy. Etsy is a very popular website. As of 2015, Etsy had 56 million registered members. That’s a lot of people going to the website.
If you have an Etsy shop make sure you tell people about it. Share it on your social media accounts. Nobody will know that you have it unless you promote it.
For most people, computers are a way of life. People use their computers for work, school assignments, to watch movies as well as other things. Computers can break down like everything else does from time to time.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not the savviest person when it comes to fixing a computer. If you are good with fixing computers, then this is the side hustle for you. You can make big money by restoring hard drives and retrieving information that people may think is lost.
It will be spring in a few weeks. That means that the grass and the shrubs will be growing soon. If you have a lawn mower and some hedge trimmers you can make money by doing yard work. If someone has their own house with a yard, they will have to cut the grass and make sure everything is tidy several times a year. Not everyone likes doing yard work. Your side hustle will thrive once you find those customers. Word of mouth and putting up flyers are two ways where you can find clients.
If you have your own house, you can list it on Airbnb. Airbnb is a website where people rent their homes or rooms out to travelers. I currently live in an apartment, but if I had a house with enough space, I would try my hand at Airbnb. People are fed up with the high hotel prices. They book their accommodations with Airbnb because it’s affordable. Depending on the amount of space that you have can determine if you want to rent you whole house or just a room or two.
If you’re a millennial looking for a side hustle, there are a lot of them to choose from. The days are over where you could only make money with a full-time job. Take your time to try a few of these side hustles out and get ready to make that money.
