If you don’t know digital marketing & SEO, you need to level up to grow your business…
What you’ll discover…
- Common Assumption: “I sell a must-have product service, so I don’t need to do any marketing.” (Totally false!)
- Reality: Poor SEO means that search engines and users will be frustrated with your website. (And they won’t call you.)

If you’ve done everything else you need to launch a business and bring your product/service to market and you’re STILL struggling to find customers, then you’re going to be thrilled with what you learn here today!
Let’s say that you’re an entrepreneur with a new small business selling cleaning services. You’re crushing it with referrals because your current customers love you. You’re making a little money, but not a lot because you aren’t serving enough customers yet. You think your website is rockin’ but Google doesn’t send much traffic your way. *womp womp*
Focusing on your offline efforts to connect with customers and obtain referrals will only get you so far. The world’s number one way to find information today is by using search engines like Google, Bing, or Yahoo, so if your website is not optimized for search engines, you’re missing a HUGE opportunity!
My best piece of advice for you is to learn the fundamentals of digital marketing and SEO and start with an SEO audit of your website to see what opportunities you’re missing out on.
First, let’s dispel a whole bunch of myths…
- SEO is too complicated to understand, right? Wrong! SEO is simply a set of principles that apply to every website—because you have a website, you know more about SEO than you think.
- SEO isn’t easy to do, right? Wrong! SEO is SUPER easy. Once you learn those set of principles, you’ll be able to effortlessly apply them to every blog post and page of your website.
- SEO takes too much time, right? Wrong! SEO is at the core of everything you write for your website, so optimizing for search engines naturally integrates into what you’re writing.
So What is SEO Anyway?
SEO stands for search engine optimization. In a nutshell, SEO describes a series of strategies you can use to improve your website and get more traffic from search engines like Google.
Companies large and small invest in true-and-true SEO strategies to increase website traffic, including SEO website audits.
Who Am I and What Do I Know?!
My name is Claudia Pennington and I’m a digital marketer, trainer, and coach. I’ve spent my career in marketing — it’s been my day job and my side hustle.
Over the years, I’ve done digital marketing and SEO for corporations, non-profits, small business owners, bloggers, and podcasters.
What I discovered is that so many businesses are AMAZING at providing services or creating fabulous products, but they’re petrified of SEO. So I decided to create online training courses to make SEO so easy, anyone could learn and apply the principles of SEO!
I know SEO and I know how small businesses and entrepreneurs can use SEO to drive more website traffic and reach more customers for years to come.
And it all starts with learning a little about SEO so that you can do an SEO website audit of your own website.
What is an SEO Website Audit and Why Do I Need to Do an Audit?
The SEO website audit is a step-by-step process you can easily follow to examine your website and identify areas of your website that could be improved, such as page titles and meta descriptions, and the areas of your website that don’t need to be improved.
Examples of a great page title AND a great meta description!
Think of the SEO website audit as a multi-point safety inspection of a car; like a safety inspection, the audit highlights what needs to be fixed on your website (and how to fix it).
With billions of websites that could be included in Google’s search results, SEO is more important than ever. Studies show that more than 71% of clicks occur on the first page of Google’s organic results.
What does this mean for you, a website owner? If you are not on the first page of results, 71% of your audience is less likely to find your website.
“The best place to hide a dead body is page 2 of Google search results.” – HuffPost Business article.
Additionally, if your website isn’t SEO friendly and you aren’t seeing a ton of search engine traffic, you’re not making as much money as you could be. You’re leaving money on the table.
Below is an example of what you could do to improve your website when you start by learning how to do an SEO website audit.
Case Study: Small Business Sees HUGE Increase in Revenue
This small business owner, frustrated with stagnant sales and little growth, needed a website audit to identify the underlying issues that held her online business back.
With a website audit and on-site SEO improvements, revenue for this business saw a 300% increase in revenue in 6 months.
During this 6-month period, traffic to their website increased 173%!
Consider year-over-year growth, 2014 to 2015. Organic traffic from Google grew 310%! There was also a 277% increase in new users.
Organic traffic from Yahoo grew 233% while new users increased 214%.
“Before we started working with Claudia, our online store’s gross sales were under $5,000 and we had only a few affiliate programs in place. Growth was slow even though our blog posts and product guides are timely and relevant for parents concerned about the safety of the products they have in their homes; we got such wonderful feedback from our readers that it was frustrating that we weren’t more visible to a greater audience. Claudia completed an audit of our website and began to optimize right away; we were unaware of the technical challenges impacting our website and our search engine traffic. Within a few months, traffic and revenue increased significantly. We’ve grown so much that we’ve brought on additional team members and more than doubled our own salaries. Claudia has continued to grow our affiliate programs and handle our SEO, and we’ve continued to meet our ever-increasing revenue targets. We’ve also found Claudia to be reliable, positive, and always quick to jump in with any project–big or small–that needs attention. We’re thrilled with the progress we’ve made and look forward to many more successful years of working together!” – Maia James, GimmeTheGoodStuff.org
In a year and a half, this small business saw tremendous growth thanks to SEO.
I thought to myself…
If they could see these kinds of results, I bet others can, too! And I can train and coach everyone to do exactly what I did to help this business grow!
